God’s judgment
Scot McKnight over at Jesus Creed started a very interesting discussion on God’s judgment and our willingness to accept the possibility of God using nature, events and/or others to enact judgment.
I think there’s too much of an unnecessary and false polarity there to really tackle this issue effectively - at least the little bit that [...]

I had this awesome narrative post half completed and I lost it all! I’m very pissed off. So here’s the crux of what I was going to say.
I think that the western evangelical church has a tendency to focus on behavior modification in the area of discipleship and spiritual development because those are the things [...]

laugh til you cry
Ok, this has got to be the funniest, saddest and simultaneously most intriguing story I have ever read. There are several responses I had to this article.
1. I thought the idea of ANYONE worshiping the American ubiquitous nom de guerre “John” was quite laughable. I doubt anyone in the 30’s predicted that outcome.
2. The irony [...]

interesting poll results
Polls are fascinating, I think anyway. So here are some interesting numbers from gallup.
* Jewish people oppose the Iraq war by a better than 3-to-1 margin, 77% to 21%.
* Americans without a religious preference are twice as likely to oppose (66%) as to support (33%) the war.

the humming in my head
If you hear a low humming sound it’s the thoughts rumbling around in my head. I have been doing a lot more reading and reflecting thanks to the Lenten season and I have a bunch of things I’d like to write about but don’t even know where to start. Maybe today will be catch up [...]

I discovered that I can just “plug and run” pretty much everything on this macbook. Including my Microsoft trackball mouse and my printer. No software required. Now I just need $500 to buy Illustrator and I won’t need my pc for anything - anyone want to send me $500? Really good karma will come your [...]

This is one of the best responses/comments regarding emerging and other “progressive” movements within christianity that I have ever read. And the whole post from Deeks in general is very fair. I also want to say that Chuck Smith Jr. gets huge high fives from me.
…it’s inevitable that reform movements appear extreme and off-balance. Of [...]
