Advent Reflections: Day 3-4

Mt. 24:36-44

I’m enjoying reflecting on the second coming parallel this season. I think I had forgotten the importance of anticipating Christ’s return and restoration of all things. I was smacked in the face with this when a neighbor knocked on my door on Tuesday, bloody from head to toes. She had just been beaten up by her drunk husband and adult son, hit with a lamp and thrown repeatedly against the wall. Taking her into my home where my 2 year old and I were enjoying a safe and peaceful afternoon disrupted my world, it made me see, eye ball to bloody eyeball how broken this world is and how it cries for redemption. Reflecting on this passage after that experience has allowed me to do as I suggested to Revolution - to hear my spirit groan for the return of Christ. There is a pain associated with groaning but also a hope in the belief that true justice and restoration WILL come and we are to be alert and at the ready. We are to be found about the Father’s business, managing his kingdom with the justice, peace love and involvement that we observe in Jesus’ life.
