I like giving gifts
I’m with Julie this year. I like giving, I like thoughtfully purchasing gifts and giving them. I like buying my girls things throughout the year for no special reason. I try to be ethical but mostly, I just love giving 
So this year, we will be putting up a tree that will be aglow with lights, sparkling with all types of ornaments. We will string lights up on our balcony - front and back. We will make cookies. We will have our mantel decorated and hung with stockings. We will buy our daughters and our family members gifts….and we won’t feel guilty about it. So take that emergent stereotypers!

Woo… I am not alone.
Yea - I like buying gifts too. Sometimes I feel guilty about it. Other times? Not so much.
Oh well…
I never realized that emergents are stereotypically against gift-giving.
I love giving gifts. Back when I was in high school, and I babysat all the time and pretty much all of my income was discretionary, I spent so much! I still love giving now even though I have to be more economical (which is probably better anyway).

yep i agree, ok there is a crazy consumerism side to christmas BUT chosing presents for other people, pausing to think what they would like/want/need and enjoying their delight when they get something they want is surely a very good thing!
Giving is the best part about xmas! Now, if only I could give more.
