always decaying, always being restored
Of all that was done in the past, you eat the fruit,
either rotten or ripe
And the Church must be forever building, and always
decaying, and always being restored.
TS Eliot

I can’t remember who posted this quote, I think maybe Julie. I love it and think it’s very true on many levels - both for the church and for individuals (as my friend Les pointed out)

Don’t you love when someone comes up with a pithy statement that conveys such a deep, meaningful truth like this?
it makes it really easy for me LOL
Uh oh….sounds like “reformed theology” — !?!?
which isn’t all bad, of course.
Seeing as he is first a poet, TS Eliot is a damn fine theologian. Have you ever read his poem on Epiphany?
hehe…well, I do believe luther said something very similar
I don’t think I have read that poem
