Advent Reflections: Day 5
Is. 11:1-10
In the beginning we find the end and at the end we begin again. T.S. Eliot says something very similar.
What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.
Advent, especially as we start the Christian calendar again with year A, actively demonstrates to us that we serve the Alpha, the Omega, the beginning and the end. Without knowledge of the end (which itself is a beginning), the beginning loses significance. To fully appreciate the birth of Christ, we must keep in mind his return - in the beginning we remember the end and by remembering the end, we are able to begin.
