an important note of justice
I would be remiss if I didn’t present the tension of this day - celebration for most, mourning for many - a tension that still exists and has not been remedied much by we who live on a land that is not our own.
Ariah posted the day of mourning speech by Wamsutta, September 10, 1970. It’s long but it’s worth reading.
I don’t think it’s necessary for us to forgo our traditions and celebrations of thanks today but let it be tempered with the knowledge that we enjoy a bounty that came at a grave price to many - a price that was forced upon them by those with more power. It was an injustice and for that I am sorry.

Well said.
Thanks for that. It’s so important to remember.
