I *do* love the Church

Just because I think things need to change, doesn’t mean they were all bad before. But in the same token, just because God allowed something and gave it the freedom to flourish for a season doesn’t mean it’s a carte blanche endorsement for all time. And just because I “stand on the shoulders of giants” doesn’t mean the giants don’t have stinky feet. And just because I rant, doesn’t mean I hate God’s bride or think I have all the answers or think there’s nothing wrong with any of the fresh expressions…if any of that were the case, I’d take the easy road and say fuck it and just drop out all together. But I don’t, I haven’t, and I don’t plan to (any time soon anyway *smirk*).

So spare me your platitudes about unity because I’m fighting for it just as much as anyone…but not uniformity or conformity. When I deeply examine my own past, and my own expressions of my faith, if I’m going to move forward in God’s heart for his bride, I have to see it with a critical eye - - just as I have to see what I’m doing now with a critical eye. So hopefully, my honest rants are also seen as provocative encouragement to examine how we do things as followers of Christ.
