Kindergarten?! no way.

Shayel will be going to kindergarten in the fall - - in public school. She had a visit there last Friday and did really well. We stayed with her at her request but tried to step out often so she could see that she was safe without us there. She listened, she participated, she tried to make a sad girl feel better…she did really great. She got a little upset when they were leaving recess and she hadn’t gotten a chance to swing but she got over it quickly. I think she’s going to do great.

….but are we? I think I’m going to have a harder time than she is. I like having Shayel around, she’s fun. She’s a good kid and she keeps me company hehe.

I’m not sure how Aliyah is going to handle not having sister around either. But it’s only half days so we’ll get to ease into it.

The school she’s going to seems really great. It’s an international bacheloriate program and the school is right on the campus of Colorado State University. Because of its location, many students there are kids of international students on campus. Throughout the week, Shayel will have art, literature, math, music, P.E. spanish and the IB centers. They focus a lot on character development including respecting others and they do a lot of global awareness and earth care.

It’ll be good..but again, I can’t believe I have a child going into Kindergarten!
