how much whitewash does it take?
How hard should we work to restore the house on the rock that’s a hair’s breadth away from becoming dust in the wind? Surely it’s not the rock’s fault? And the owners can’t be blamed for the storms that have pummeled the staid little house for so many years. But when is an extreme home make over in order? When do we move out our best and most lasting possessions so we can rebuild and move them back into a house worthy of the rock on which it stands?

sometimes i wonder if we are not a little like an archelogical dig - if someone could cross slice us would they see all sorts of different strata that now make up the building material - each time there is a rebuild that joins the other material in the foundations and something new but equally not as permanent is constructed..?

or maybe it’s like Paul says it all becomes building material that gets purified by fire and all my stuff gets burnt up?
good thought - - what then should we focus on to insure we’re putting more of our time into the things that are pure metal and not the straw and stubble that gets burned.
